High Pressure Steel Pipe Hydro Tester
hydro testing machine
At Wuxi Marley Machinery, we design high pressure steel pipe hydro testers for applications where steel pipes must be tested at high hydrostatic pressure with stable and repeatable results.
For high-pressure testing, generating pressure is only one part of the equipment design. The hydraulic system, pressure measurement, pipe-end sealing, pressure holding, and safety system must work together throughout the test cycle.
Our machines are configured according to the required test pressure, pipe diameter, wall thickness, length, and production conditions.
Built Around High-Pressure Testing
When internal pressure increases, the force acting on the pipe ends also increases. This makes sealing stability one of the most important factors in high-pressure pipe testing.
We select the hydraulic cylinders, testing heads, sealing system, and pressure generation system according to the actual testing conditions.
Our sealing solutions can be configured for different pipe sizes and pressure requirements, including:
- Pipe end-face sealing
- Inner filled rubber sealing
- Outer radial sealing
- Customized sealing arrangements
The objective is to maintain reliable sealing throughout pressure build-up and pressure holding.
Stable Pressure Build-Up and Holding
Our high pressure steel pipe hydro tester uses a controlled hydraulic system to increase water pressure gradually rather than applying pressure abruptly.
After reaching the required test pressure, the system maintains pressure for the specified holding period.
During this stage, we monitor:
- Test pressure
- Pressure stability
- Holding time
- Leakage
- Pipe deformation
- Machine operating status
Stable pressure control helps produce consistent testing conditions from one pipe to the next.
Pressure Measurement and Control
Accurate pressure measurement is essential for high-pressure hydrostatic testing.
We integrate pressure sensors and gauges with the control system so that the operator can monitor the testing pressure in real time.
PLC and HMI control can be configured to manage:
- Water filling
- Pressure build-up
- Pressure holding
- Pressure release
- Testing cycle
- Alarm monitoring
- Test data recording
For production applications requiring traceability, test pressure and related testing data can be recorded according to the customer's requirements.
High Pressure Testing Process
Our standard testing sequence is:
Pipe Positioning → End Sealing → Water Filling → Air Exhaust → Pressure Build-Up → Pressure Holding → Pressure Release
The pipe is first positioned and securely sealed. Water is then injected until the pipe is completely filled, with trapped air removed before high-pressure testing.
The hydraulic system gradually raises the internal pressure to the specified test value. During pressure holding, the system monitors pressure stability while the pipe is checked for leakage or other abnormal conditions.
After the test is completed, pressure is released in a controlled manner.

Safety and Pressure Stability
High-pressure testing requires the machine structure and hydraulic system to withstand the forces generated during testing.
We therefore consider the strength of the testing frame, hydraulic cylinders, testing heads, sealing components, pressure piping, and safety protection system during equipment design.
Pressure should be increased and released in a controlled sequence. The control system can monitor abnormal pressure conditions and machine alarms during operation.
High Pressure Testing for Welded and Seamless Pipes
Our high-pressure hydro testers can be configured for different steel pipe types, including welded and seamless pipes.
For welded pipes, the test provides an opportunity to verify the pressure integrity of the pipe body and welded seam.
For high-strength or thick-wall pipes requiring higher testing pressure, we select the hydraulic and sealing components according to the required pressure range rather than using a standard configuration.
Our Engineering Approach
At Wuxi Marley Machinery, we do not define a high-pressure hydro tester only by its maximum pressure.
We first evaluate the customer's pipe OD, length, wall thickness, material, required test pressure, testing standard, and production capacity.
We then configure the pressure generation system, sealing arrangement, testing heads, control system, water system, and safety protection accordingly.
Our goal is straightforward: to provide stable, repeatable, and controlled high-pressure hydrostatic testing for steel pipe production.
